Q

A little background on your company and what you all do? Who or what was your initial inspiration to get going? What did your step 1 look like?

A

Addison began with Mat and I, and a wild idea 5 years ago.  Mat and I know each other through his wife Cindy who is a dear friend from college. We talked about our vision for a shop and then decided to form a collective comprised of 6 friends. We began selling vintage out of our small but charming space in the heart of the Fan District in Richmond.  We have always been inspired giving cool old clothes new life and promoting the practice of recycling clothing rather than letting it go to a landfill!

Q

What is your mission as a business owner?

A

To run a successful business that is thriving while offering a fun, beautiful and unique place to shop. We always want our customers to feel good energy when walking in the door, and we hope there is always something they just can't resist! We also love to give back to the community when ever possible.

Q

What makes you motivated to keep going?

A

We love what we do!

Q

What are some of your wellness rituals/ health hacks that help you stay grounded, in alignment, and performing your best as a business owner?

A

Eating healthy foods, plenty of sleep, yoga and walking our respective pups! Oh, and plenty of Lamplighter coffee to get us through the day. :)

Q

Can you shed some light on how to detoxify your life through fashion and eco-consumerism?

A

Keep it simple! We only carry our favorite pieces here at the shop and thats a great way in our opinion to curate your closet as well. As we mentioned above, collecting special vintage pieces in your wardrobe is a great way to cut back on fast fashion and the wild world of consumerism we are living in. Wearing vintage is a great form of recycling! Also buying local and handmade goods is a great way to support artists and makers that are making quality small batch items usually with pure ingredients, while at the same time surrounding yourself with quality products. It's a win win.

Q

What are some breakthroughs you've had that helped relieve day to day stresses as a business owner?

 A

Plan ahead, space out your tasks, ask for help from co-workers, and know it is ok if you don't get it all done today...oh, and get an accountant !

Q

The best two pieces of advice for those wanting to start a business?

A

If you are truly passionate about it, and that voice inside you is telling you it's your dream,  DO IT!! Secondly, ask for advice from other business owners and take one step at a time.
