Pituitary gland// 'The master gland' located behind the nose and base of brain that secretes hormones and sends messages to the organs and bodily tissues to regulate vital functions in the body.
Hypothalamus// Takes messages from the brain and tells the pituitary which hormones to secrete in the body.
Cortisol// The stress hormone
Thyroid stimulating hormone// Essential for regulating your metabolism.
The pituitary gland and the hypothalamus work tightly together to signal to the body, basically, what the heck to do. The regulate the actions of anger, stress, sexual activity, hunger, thirst, reproduction, flight, and body temperature. Big ballers.
HOW THE MASTER GLAND BOOSTS LIBIDO+
In the anterior (larger) section of the pituitary gland, the sex hormones run wild when your master gland is effectively secreting LH, a hormone that supports the secretion of sex hormones. This equals frisk-town USA. Frisky = healthy. Favorite herb to nourish the secretion of sex hormones? Maca! Endocrine system party favor.
HOW THE MASTER GLAND LOWERS STRESS+
In the anterior section of the master gland, ACTH is found. This hormone is directly related with the adrenal glands and their signal to produce cortisol. Too little cortisol, and we are unhealthy and depressed. Too much cortisol, we steep in fight-or-flight and screw with our ability to stay grounded, calm, and stress free. Our favorite remedy for adrenal support? Drink Matcha over coffee 3 days out of the week. Or more! Not happening? Try having your first cup of coffee after 9 am, when you're cortisol levels have started to decline. Excess cortisol leads to burnt adrenals.
HOW THE MASTER GLAND SUPPORTS WEIGHT LOSS+
Also in the anterior side of the pituitary gland, TSH hormone is found. TSH is directly connected to the thyroid glands. What do our thyroid glands do? (scroll up.) When our brain is effectively communicating with our master gland on when to secret or down-regulate the release of this hormone into our bloodstream, our body is coasting on metabolic efficiency. Our cells are efficiently converting oxygen and calories into usable energy. Our favorite way to support the thyroid gland? Consuming foods rich in iodine, like seaweed. Also, coconut oil + almonds + wild fish. Fishy fishy you.
HAPPY ALL THE TIME+
So if the sex is good, the metabolism is regulated, and your'e grounded.....you are now happy all the time.
